Why I am Running:

My record of achievements these last ten years as your City Councilman prepared me well to lead our City during these next four years.  I possess the leadership qualities and vision for taking our City forward, as evidenced in my contributions to the City to date, as well as reflective in my successful business career.

My record includes the following:

• Supported the City’s Growing Public Safety Needs – established the regions first Public Safety Department, aligning all Alpharetta’s resources under one chain of command. This has allowed Alpharetta to coordinate Homeland Security measures, attract a higher level of Federal and State Grants and delivered proven results in an enhanced community policing effort; while driving down annual operating costs in excess of $500,000 by integrating leadership coordination.
• Transportation and Development – I have been a vigilant advocate for upholding the City’s Comprehensive Land Use Plan and zoning code. My voting record demonstrates the commitment to these principles, in keeping Alpharetta a family friendly community.
• Recreation and Parks  - worked towards managing the continued building requirements of our Recreational and Parks needs, an area that has had a direct impact on the quality of life for all ages. Supported the ongoing expansion of the Greenway System and provided leadership on acquiring additional passive parkland and green space requirements of a growing population base.
• Financial Management Leadership – worked towards building fiscal responsibility within all aspects of City government.  I served over the Finance area of the City during my first two years on the City Council and in that time assisted in implementing significant new financial management policies. These policies have become the framework in providing our taxpayers complete transparency with respect to the financial management of the City’s tax dollars and has had a direct impact on the City achieving a AAA bond rating.

My focus as your Mayor during the next four years is to provide good fiscal policy leadership during these current tough economic times, which is the cornerstone of any successful City, while keeping Public Safety a core priority in maintaining the quality of life we all expect.
